PR1 - Baseline Report and Digital Storytelling Clips
Centre hospitalier universitaire de Liège
Needs Analysis
Coronavirus disease has a significant worldwide impact on individuals’ mental health. Mental health professionals (MHPs) in particular are highly exposed to numerous stressors in their work environment due to COVID-19 pandemic and for this reason there is an urgent need for intervention to protect and reinforce their mental health.
Target Groups
The main aim of R1 is the identification of the resilience skills, resources, and competences that should be enhanced by the VET trainers according to MHPs, which are also the main direct target group of R1, and of the project in general. Indirectly, R1 aims to promote mental health services. Thus, indirectly targets to stakeholders and the end-users (people who receive mental healthcare services).
Elements of Innovation
The innovation here is the use of the Model Clips for Needs Analysis technique (digital storytelling clips), as an alternative way of collecting information. This technique supports the target group to clarify their needs by providing real examples of everyday conditions. According to the Model Clips methodology, each partner should prepare 4 interviews, which will be recorded in a digital storytelling format and will be available in the online platform of the project. The storytellers will share their personal experiences, real examples, biographies and basic needs of their profession and extra needs emerging due to COVID-19 outbreak. These videos will be also the first introductory part to the next steps and deliverables of the project.
Expected Impact
The main findings of the storytelling collected data, in combination with the needs analysis, came up from the focus group and the questionnaires selected, will set the main thematic areas, for which we are going to prepare the training material of the project. For the preparation and organization of the interviews, the partnership will utilize the associated partners, which will actively participate during the first stages of the project. R1 will be the first deliverable of the project, for which all partners should disseminate through the available Media resources (Facebook, Websites, Instagram, Linkedin, etc.). The goal of disseminating the outcomes is to inform relevant stakeholders about the products of this project, to involve mental healthcare institutions actively in all phases of the project and to raise the mental healthcare community’s awareness. In particular, the communities of MHPs and VET trainers will gain insight related to how vital the enhancement of the resilience skills is in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the mapping of the training needs, the project involves external stakeholders from the initial stages of the project, and thus initiates and maintains their interest throughout the activities and events planned for POSITIVE ACADEMY. Engaging the interest of external stakeholders maximizes the impact and responds to the expected indicators.
Quantitative Indicators
- Questionnaires for Needs Analysis: 25 questionnaires per partner (n=175).
- Virtual Focus Groups: 8 participants per partner (n=56).
- Role Model Clips: 4 digital interviews per partner (n=28).
The IT partner will be responsible only for the technical aspects of R1.
Transferability Potential
Regarding the transferability potentials of R1, it is important to mention that the Digital Environment, based on the analysis of requirements from this phase of the project, will be freely available to a wider audience of stakeholders, not only from the partner countries, but also at wider European and International level. Thus, awareness about the pressing need of MHPs to tackle the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic will be heightened at substantial level. This will set the roots for developing a network and interest group of MHPs and relevant stakeholders, who will continue their dialogue about resilience competences.
